How we help
ERP Selection: Advisory
Choosing an ERP is not just an IT project; it’s a business decision.
3 signs you need a (new) ERP
-
A growing business to structure You’ve hit a new stage of growth. You need scalable systems that support not just finance, but also allows you to better follow purchasing, stocks, sales, HR, … -
Rapidly increasing complexity You’ve outgrown your accounting tool. Stock, orders, payroll, CRM… nothing talks to each other anymore. Your team is juggling spreadsheets, and you lack efficiency and productivity. -
Disconnected data and processes Each department uses its own tools. You lack visibility across the chain, data is scattered and doesn’t reconcile and it takes ages to get the right information. You need one source of truth to make the right decisions, faster.
We guide you through every step of your ERP journey: from clarifying your needs to securing the right system and integrator.
To do this, we combine financial expertise and procurement know-how.
Our approach combines deep operational insight with a pragmatic, no-nonsense attitude. For example, we will help you differentiate real needs vs. nice to haves, to help you balance impact and budget. Those discussions are also a good opportunity to get your processes clearer and make them evolve.
We listen carefully to all stakeholders and challenge assumptions when needed. Because we stay completely independent from software vendors or integrators, our only goal is to help you find the right solution: one that fits your way of working, your ambitions, and your budget.
“An ERP isn’t good or bad: it’s right or wrong for your organisation. The right choice brings harmony, clarity, and flow across the company. The wrong one brings confusion, friction and frustration”
– Cédric Van Themsche, Partner at Altesia
Our methodology to guide your ERP choice
-
01
Context and needs assessment
- We start by identifying why you want to change or adopt an ERP: is it due to growth, inefficiencies, messy data? How would you like processes to evolve?
- We define the scope of the project with you: which departments will be covered (finance, HR, procurement, logistics, sales, etc.)?
- We set up a project steering committee, involving key stakeholders early on.
- Through individual workshops with each department, we uncover pain points, manual bottlenecks, and reporting needs — using tailored questionnaires to capture what really matters.
-
02
ERP matching & shortlisting
- We guide you through a structured evaluation of functional requirements (Altesia’s checklist includes 80+ finance features, and many more for other domains).
- We help you prioritise: must-haves vs. nice-to-haves — no overkill.
- Based on our independent database of 35+ ERP tools, we create a shortlist (max 5) and assess strengths, weaknesses, and fit.
- We reduce the list to 2–3 ERP solutions that best match your needs. Altesia is 100% agnostic: we have no commercial ties to any ERP or vendor.
-
03
Integrator selection & contracting
- Once the ERP shortlist (2–3 solutions) is defined, we enter the procurement phase: we identify suitable integrators based on your shortlisted ERPs. Some integrators cover multiple tools; others are specialists.
- We draft a detailed RFP (15–20 pages) that includes your functional requirements and the shortlisted ERP systems.
- We manage the Q&A phase, benchmark the proposals, and help you evaluate both technical fit and budget realism.
- A final shortlist of 2–3 integrators is established and challenged through an RFQ and Best and Final Offer (BAFO)
- Our goal: help you avoid default choices, uncover hidden costs, and secure the best-fit ERP + Integrator combination — aligned with your priorities.
What we don’t do
At Altesia, we don’t believe there’s no such thing as a “perfect ERP”, but only various options that are more or less adapted to your organisation and specific needs.
Here’s what we don’t do:
- We don’t recommend a one-size-fits-all “best ERP”. We recommend the solution that better matches your organization needs.
- We avoid inflating your budget with endless “must have” criteria. We rather challenge them, so you can balance impact with budget.
- We don’t push specific integrators or ERP solutions: we’re 100% independent and fully aligned with your interests.
What's next? The implementation phase
Once your ERP and integrator are selected, the implementation is where that investment pays off — or doesn’t. We embed a senior consultant as your interim Project Manager to drive it, independent from your integrator and dedicated to your outcome.
