ERP Project Management — Interim PM

Your ERP is chosen. Now the real work begins. No matter who guided your ERP selection, we can step in to manage the implementation. We bring fresh eyes, structured project governance, and full alignment with your interests.

3 signs your ERP project is at risk

  • No dedicated project owner Your ERP integrator is ready to start. But who, internally, has the time and experience to actually pilot the project? Without a structured counterpart, the integrator sets the pace — and rarely in your favour.
  • Your teams are already at capacity Your finance, ops or IT teams are the very people the integrator needs to work with. Asking them to also manage the project is a recipe for delays, fatigue and poor decisions under pressure.
  • You’ve invested too much to get it wrong You’ve spent months selecting the right ERP and the right integrator. The implementation phase is where that investment pays off — or doesn’t. The risk of cost overruns, scope creep and missed go-live dates is highest here.

How we help

We embed one of our senior consultants directly into your organisation as a dedicated, interim Project Manager — your internal champion for the duration of the implementation.

We know your context. If Altesia guided your ERP selection, your PM already knows your processes, your stakeholders, your pain points and why you chose this solution. There is no ramp-up time. There is no knowledge gap.

We speak both languages. Our consultants combine business fluency with ERP implementation know-how. They translate between your teams and the integrator — so nothing gets lost, delayed or deprioritised.

We are 100% on your side. Unlike the integrator, our only goal is to protect your interests, hold the timeline, and make sure you get what was promised.

Why an interim PM rather than hiring internally?

  • Independence from the integrator.

A PM you hire on a fixed-term contract is naturally tempted to maintain a good working relationship with the integrator — they will work side by side for months. Our consultants have no such incentive. We push back when needed, escalate when warranted, and stay focused on your business outcome.

  • Multi-project experience.

Recruiting a PM means trusting someone whose ERP experience is, at best, their own past project. Our consultants have piloted multiple implementations across sectors, and bring the patterns of what works and what doesn’t.

  • Backup of a full firm.

Behind your interim PM stands the Altesia team. When a thorny issue arises — a vendor dispute, a contract clause, a complex finance question — your PM has senior partners to consult and challenge with. A solo hire has only themselves.

“Choosing the right ERP is only half the battle. The implementation is where projects succeed or fail — and that depends entirely on who is sitting at the table on your behalf.”

— Cédric Van Themsche, Partner at Altesia

Our approach as your interim ERP Project Manager

What we don’t do

Our role is to be your ally during implementation, not to add another layer between you and your integrator. Here’s what we don’t do:

We don’t replace your integrator. We make them more accountable.

We don’t add unnecessary overhead. We embed lightly and work directly with your teams and the integrator — no extra layers.

We don’t disappear after go-live. We stay until the project is genuinely stable and your teams are autonomous.

We don’t take sides with the technology. Our loyalty is to your business outcome, not to the ERP vendor or the integrator.

How we engage

  • Duration

Typical engagements run from 6 to 18 months, aligned with your implementation timeline.

  • Intensity

Our PM is dedicated 3 to 5 days per week to your project, depending on the phase. During go-live, expect full-time presence.

  • Profile

Our interim PMs are senior consultants with multiple ERP implementations behind them, fluent in finance, procurement and operations.

  • Onboarding

If Altesia guided your ERP selection, onboarding is immediate. If not, we plan a 1 to 2-week ramp-up to understand your context, your team, and the work done so far.
